Inspired by the etymology of "contemplate" and the transcendence of sight, this project redefines the relationship with the landscape. By excavating the mountain to site a viewpoint, the architectural intervention aims to maintain the natural terrain profile, creating subtle openings that invite the interior observation of the landscape, rather than the viewpoint itself being observed.
The design proposes a central space, where a cafeteria rests within the mountain, evoking the hearth atmosphere of traditional Viking dwellings. The remaining program is distributed internally around the mountain, featuring varied heights that generate diverse atmospheres. This strategy seeks to make the perception of and relationship with the landscape dynamic, offering multiple experiences of contemplation and understanding.
